Organic Seedlings Available Soon At Local Nurseries

Most nurseries carry organic Tried and True brand seedlings, which are typically available around mid‑March. For 2026, I have confirmed that Amsterdam Garden Center in Pitt Meadows grows its own organic vegetable transplants that are well suited to our gardens.

Use caution when purchasing seedlings grown in peat pots. Although these are intended to be planted directly into the garden, I strongly recommend removing the peat pot and planting only the root ball. Based on extensive personal experience—and conversations with other gardeners—seedlings planted with the peat pot intact often struggle and may fail altogether. These “plantable” peat‑pot seedlings also tend to be more expensive, so protect your investment by removing the peat shell before planting.
