General Tasks List:

  1. Remove CFC wherever it is found in paths, edges, and on the common property areas. There is a lot of CFC near the shed. Eradication here should be the primary focus for now. CFC can be placed on tarps to dry out before we remove it from the property. Knock off as much soil as possible - do not leave large clumps of soil on weeds. DO NOT COMPOST CFC! If you do not know how to remove Creeping Field Cress (Keek) correctly - ASK either Karin or Stuart. We would be happy to show you in order to prevent this noxious weed's spread and to help you and us get it under control, with the goal of eventually eradicating it from our gardens. The only way to remove it correctly is to use a garden fork. NO ripping out by the tops or using a shovel. This will only result in spreading root fragments that quickly begin to grow again. All CFC must be removed from D-row before it can be turned to hay next spring. Going forward CFC will be marked with stakes bearing pink or orange flag tape for easier identification and removal. Once removed, return all stakes to plot B5. Do not discard stakes! We have also started marking CFC in gardeners' plots. If you find stakes in your plot, please address the CFC ASAP.

  2. Remove general weeds from empty plots. Leave weeds on a corner of the plot to compost.

  3. Line-dig empty plots to create a trench. This makes it more difficult for creeping weeds to infiltrate plots. Also prevents damage to plots when paths are mowed and trimmed by line trimmer.

  4. If you have your own line trimmer you may bring it to trim paths, being careful not to damage watering equipment (hoses, taps, timers, etc).
