The Italian arum (Arum italicum) catches the eye with its striking appearance. Originally brought to North America from Europe as an ornamental plant, it quickly gained popularity in gardens. However, behind its attractive façade lies a species that threatens local ecosystems. The entire plant is toxic, containing high levels of oxalates. Ingesting any part of the plant can be fatal.
